Extreme Thing Finalists
Ricardo Laguna about the event: This was the first year that mother nature gave us perfect weather for this event and jumps were super fun with two different lines and a 20ft spine. Steven Murray made it out too!!! Hucker was one of the top picks to take the win but with a real bad crash (spliting his eye open and couple fractures in his face) had to sit out...Ryan nyquist jumped in the the crow toward the end, for a little crowd surfing. Silverstine, Vandals and Bad Religion were awesome. The roller Derby girls were crazy too for the wrestling.

I really wanna give a big thanks to everyone at Clark County Parks and rec for making this event, West and his whole staff at Desert Breeze Park, BIG big Thanks to Larry and his crew for getting the dirt in place all of the riders that came out plus the crow going wild! Hope to see you next year!

Munich, March 26th 2009 – Germany will host a high-class BMX dirt jump contest called the “BIG IN BAVARIA”. The comp unites the world’s best BMX dirt jumpers during the BIKE EXPO, the brand new international bicycle trade show from July 23rd to 26th. As you can guess, hearing the title “BIG IN BAVARIA”, it’s not only about huge doubles and 20.000 Euros prize money, but also about the 25 invited big names like Cory Nastazio, James Foster, Luke Parslow, Ryan Guettler, Ryan Nyquist, Dave Dillewaard, Corey Bohan, Alejandro Caro or Cameron White.

Tarek Rasouli, managing partner of rasoulution, the agency which is in charge of the BIG IN BAVARIA, explains its concept: “Munich is well known worldwide for the Oktoberfest and the Hofbräuhaus. Some of the BMX pros have already been in Munich, riding the various spots and enjoying the Bavarian lifestyle. The BIKE EXPO is the new melting pot for the global bicycle industry and the perfect chance to get the world’s best pros all together. A perfect dirt line, 20.000 Euros overall prize money, a unique Bavarian flair, as well as thousands of spectators make the perfect framework for the athletes from all over the globe.”
ASA Entertainment
ASA Entertainment reaches one million kids with the 10th anniversary of the ASA Action Sports High School Tour in support of the campaign for tobacco-free kids.

Los Angeles (March 17, 2009) – ASA Entertainment, the leader in action sports event production, is excited to announce that with the launch of their 2009 ASA High School Tour it will celebrate 10 years of support for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. Since 2000, ASA has traveled the country visiting high schools with a mobile action sports tour, featuring top skateboarding, BMX and inline skating pros performing unimaginable tricks on a portable half-pipe during on campus assemblies, while disseminating an important anti-tobacco cause message through announcements, trivia questions, brochures and attention grabbing performances. In 2009 the ASA High School Tour will reach its 1,000,000th student with this Tour and its critical message.

“We are so pleased to make such a positive impact on students throughout the country with this tour”, said Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment. “Tobacco prevention is an issue near-and-dear to everyone at ASA and we are grateful to all the schools, sponsors, staff and athletes during the past 10 years who have helped us reach this milestone and spread this important message.”
Skate and BMX Park Jena
We are glad to invite you to the opening jam of our latest skatepark project in Jena Paradies in der Oberaue Germany.

We will install a veritable outdoor skatepark in Jena. After pimping it up with small features in the last weeks, we will now finally turn it into a big skatepark. Through its open design and its variety in ramp-structures the skatepark is going to attract skateboarders and BMX riders of all riding levels. The setup includes two huge Wallride-Quater-Bank elements, which frame a challenging Jump-Setup, build of Jumpboxes and Spines. A Pyramid with ledges, the new Londen Gap, and the Olli Box give the park the authentic street style.

Eastern BMX Karl Poynter
As most of the internet knows, Karl Poynter is now riding for Eastern Bikes. We are excited to have such an original rider and a cool guy on the team. He’s going to add to the already strong team that Eastern has and contribute a part to the new Eastern full-length team video.

I asked Karl what he liked in a company and he had this to say; “The ingredients for a growing BMX company would be quality products of course, a solid fun lovin' team, and a good staff/family running the brand, which I believe Eastern has it all.” And to be more specific I asked him what it was he liked about Eastern. “The people who operate and run the brand, the quality and design of the products, and definitely the team are what makes Eastern a perfect fit for me”, was his response. “I'm really close to the majority of the team already and can't wait to hangout and ride with the members that I don't know as much as the others. The team is definitely a good mix of guy's with diverse personalities who are always having fun”, Karl said about the team.

Adam Banton added this about Karl; “No brakes and freecoaster was Karl’s set up before it was trendy. Dialed riding, clean style and approachable personality is what makes him a young influence. He adds value to Eastern’s strong brand and more smiles and laughs on team trips for the future. Welcome hot Karl!” So with that I just want to welcome Karl to the team and just keep watching for big things to come.

Seven Dutchman and a Czech meet in Amsterdam and head out looking for a mountain...! After plenty of bike kilometres, Sunday morning saw what initially had seemed a futile mission in the notoriously flat Netherlands end with eight of the worlds best downhill mountain bikers meeting for a completely unique and insane downstairs-race in a ramshackle eleven-story building in the heart of Amsterdam.

AMSTERDAM (NED). Not far from the aptly named Amsterdam Central Station, the eight mountain bike Olympians found what they had been looking for. Led by Dutchman Rob van den Wildenberg, fifth at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the troupe of world-class bikers stormed the former POST CS mail distribution centre to help with the demolition of the ramshackle building much to the surprise of some labourers still working on the site!
