To kick off the season in style, UCI BMX Supercross presented by Swatch returns to Denmark’s capital city, Copenhagen, at their beautiful world-class BMX Supercross track - An amazing permanent facility near the center of Europe’s largest festival city. Copenhagen is also well-known for it’s passion for cycling and the UCI BMX Supercross has the honour of being one of only six major events featured in Bike City Copenhagen - a showcase series of major cycling events leading up to the 2012 Olympics. USA’s Donny Robinson, who won the event last year, will hope for the same result to kick off his quest for a 2nd Supercross title. Freecaster.tv will broadcast the semi-finals and finals LIVE on Saturday May 9th at 14:45 CEST.
Gagnon and Mayer are One and Two Again and Ellis wins the Big Air BMX Triples at the ASA Action Sports World Tour. Chicago turns out to support Hometown Hero Koji Kraft.
CHICAGO (May 1, 2009) - Action sports fans in the Windy City of Chicago were blown away by the tight competition at the ASA Action World Sports Tour stop at the Sears Centre Arena Friday night where the top seeded athletes ultimately won both the Skateboard Vert and the Big Air BMX Triples but not before some heart-pounding moments where upsets seemed totally in reach. Skateboarder Pierre-Luc Gagnon (Montreal, Canada) had to come from behind in the penultimate round in order to beat out Danny Mayer (Omaha, Nebraska) and extend his win streak to seven straight ASA majors, and BMX champ T.J. Ellis (Moreno Valley, Calif.) made it to the final round only by virtue of a split decision over James Foster (Redlands, Calif). But what really had fans screaming at the filled arena was the fact that hometown hero Koji Kraft made it to the Big Air Finals and landed on the podium for the first time at an ASA event since 2005.

BMX Supercross World Cup: Copenhagen welcomes the world’s best BMX-riders. World Champions and Olympic Games medal winners are among the prominent participants when the international BMX Supercross World Cup season starts 8-9 May in Copenhagen. The day of finals offers the spectators exciting BMX top sport, rock concert with some of Denmark’s best rock names, dj, competitions and “have-a-try” for the youngsters. Entrance for both days DKK 75 (10 Euro), children under 12 years free.
The Olympic Games gold medal winner (men), Maris Strombergs from Latvia, and the World Champion 2008 (women), Shanaze Reade from Great Britain, are among the favourites to go all the way at the BMX-track in Copenhagen. A track, which is regarded as one of the best in the world.
More than 120 riders are on the starting list in Copenhagen, all fighting for World Cup points within this spectacular upcoming sport, full of action, endurance and technique. Among these, five Danish riders, who must perform to their limit to qualify for the final heats.
“Two or three of our riders have the potential to go far in Copenhagen, even all the way to the final. However, both their mental and physical capacity must be top-tuned. We are training intensively these days and, no doubt, the World Cup is an important step on our way to our ultimate aim; the Olympic Games 2012 in London. We trust that the spectators, as in 2008, will give us their full support”, says Christian Poulsen, the national BMX team manager.

Camp-Ramps just finished the skatepark in Jena Paradies. The set-up has big wallrides, huge jumps and transfers and a general arrangement of ramps, that makes the park special. For the street-orientated riders we installed a pyramid with diverse ledges, a londen-gab and an ollibox. We think the result is quite good. Take a look yourself!
The local scene brought a lot of energy and motivation into the extension of the park and was a big help for us during the building. Thanks for that! We also want to thank JG Stadtmitte Jena for their friendly help.
Accordingly we highly recommend you to come to the Opening-Jam at the 04.04.09. There are two good reasons: A big skatepark that guarantees huge fun and an extremely cool and open-minded scene to make you feel good! For further information check our homepage www.camp-ramps.com.
We hope to see you on Saturday in Jena!
