The International Olympic Committee has announced that they have approved the Youth Olympic Games, beginning in 2010. IOC President, Jacques Rogge was quoted as saying, "This is an historic moment for the Olympic Movement. We owe this to the youth of the world” after the 111 members of the IOC voted in July to pursue the concept of the Youth Olympic Games.

According to Rogge, the Youth Olympic Games, which will take place every second year, are the flagship of the IOC’s strategy outlined for young people, which includes other initiatives, such as an educational project on Olympic values, a dedicated web site for youngsters and a campaign highlighting the Olympic values to young people.

The Youth Olympic Games aim will be, to bring together talented athletes from around the world to participate in high-level competitions; - to run, alongside the sports element of the event, education programs on; Olympic values, on the benefits of sport for a healthy lifestyle, the social values sport can deliver and on the dangers of doping and of training to excess and/or of inactivity. Also, to use the latest communications channels to promote Olympic values and the spirit and essence embodied in the Youth Olympic Games.

Tools Needed:

·Shovels - the number of shovels needed depends on the number of riders that work at the trail have at least two of each so more than one person can work at as time and there is always an extra.
·Hoe - Digs up dirt and can be used to carve out lips.
·Wheelbarrow - to build jumps up quicker and to move good dirt (like clay or loom) from one place to where you’re building, also can hold all tools when done.
·Roller/Bikes - the roller is used 2 smooth out the jumps and smooth out surrounding areas; bikes can be used for the same thing.
·Water - if you have a hose it works the best but water is needed to harden jumps (explained later).
·Friends - always better to ride with friends also helps to have them around just in case anyone gets hurts.
·You may also require lawnmowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, etc to clear out a spot to build.

In case you missed the announcement earlier there is currently a charity auction up for the benefit of Stephen Murray’s Recovery. www.charityfolks.com/astdropsin

Stephen Murray is a pro BMX Dirt Jumper who was injured recently at the 1st stop of the AST Dew Tour. He crushed his 3,4 and 5th cervical vertebrae and consequently suffered some damage to his spinal chord. He is currently in Colorado undergoing rehabilitation like a mechanical bicycle that pedals for him!

The support around the world has been truly amazing and your dollars that you donated have already been put to use for things like the air ambulance that transported him from the Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore to the rehab center in Colorado.

This little video shows you how to not fix your wheel :D.

If you are having trouble with your brakes, specifically the type of trouble that involves your brake pads not hitting the rim correctly, then this might help. First loosen whatever bolts hold your pads in place. Don't take them off, just loosen them. Then, take a good burly zip tie and position it so that it holds the brakes together(i.e. in the stopping position) and crank that sucker down hard. Theoretically, your pads will both be making the maximum amount of contact with the rim. Now, while holding the pads in place, because the zip tie will always need some assistance when Mr. Wrench enters the fray, tighten down all your bolts. If you did it right, you should at least see a marginal improvement, and if you're like some people I know, any improvement in braking means less injuries and more ride time. See, I have just improved your life drastically.
Despite the rain that forced to cancel the event, there was still plenty of riding done. Check out the highlights in this video.
