Is the 22 inch wheel size going to be a new standard in the BMX industry? The people behind Faction Bike Co think it will, here's what they got to say about it.
The new 22" wheel bikes are continuing to stir up the BMX world - already popular with experienced riders and owned by some of the best known BMX legends, the new size bikes are now winning races and helping riders do some of the biggest airs they've ever done. If this sounds to good to be true, check out the footage on www.factionbikeco.com where you'll also find some of the physics info behind why the mid-size wheels have such an influence on a BMX's performance. Just when you thought you needed less weight to go higher and faster, along comes a new concept and rips up the rule book, by showing bigger is actually better.
FactionBikeCo is a small, UK rider-owned company making limited numbers of the new bikes, there's no marketing department and rely on riders to send in the clips and photos. The site has only just gone online, more clips showing the bikes performance will be added as soon as they get the footage back from the USA riders.

Last weekend the Asian Championships were held on the brand new BMX track in Hong Kong. UCI track builder Tom Ritz was hired by the Hong Kong Cycling Association to build the first professional BMX track ever in Hong Kong.
Steven almost broke his ankle 2 weeks ago, so he didn’t have the best preparation for this race. But that didn’t stop him! After winning his motos and semi, Steven took the hole shot in the main and lead from start to finish to take his 4th successive Asian Title.
This victory was special for Steven as it was the first BMX event in Hong Kong and a lot of his friends and family were there to see him dominate the race.
Steven is supported by Formula Europe (Formula Bicycle Company, Shimano, Ufoplast, Formco, EuroBmx, Swatch, SixSixOne, AlienationBmx, Navada.net), HKSI, Oakley, Nike and Champ System.

Fly Bikes came up with a new brake mounts system called SBS (spanish brake system). They wanted to design a system where you can put and remove your brakes quicky and easy. For brakeless riders, you might get to a spot like the trails or a street spot where you need brakes so you can put them on without the hassle. If you ride with brakes and feel like riding without them, you can also remove them easy and quicky. Putting on and removing them takes even less than 1 minute. The system will be on some of their new frames at the end of this year.
With the 2009 coming to an end, the riders from Formula Europe are finishing their last races before enjoying a well-deserved rest and starting preparation for the 2010 BMX Season.
Rihards Veide is showing he’s ready to move up to the Elite Category next season. In Besnato (Italy), he won the opening Time Trial of the 3rd International BMX Fast Cross against several European Top Elite riders. In Saturday’s race he took a solid second behind former World Champ Arturs Matisons and in front of Vice European Elite Champ Arnaud Dubois. On Sunday he took the win followed by Arnaud Dubois and Pablo Gutierrez.
In Denmark, Niklas Laustsen competed in the Open Elite race in Varde. In the combined Junior and Elite class Niklas won the overall in the motos giving him 2nd lane choice in the main. He took a good gate and was in second place going into the first turn. After a rider came from the inside pushing the leader up to take over first, Niklas made a nice high-low to hold on to his second place and kept it untill the finish line. A strong result for Junior Niklas against the Danish Elite riders.
