How did you get into BMX?
When I was 12 years old I build a BMX track near my house and started riding for fun, later on I got into the racing scene.

What was your first BMX?
Mongoose Motivater (heaviest bike ever lol)

What do you like the most about BMX?
Pretty much everything, the adrenaline, training on my bike.

How come you started riding for Hong Kong?
Because my father is Chinese and the funding of the Hong Kong cycling team was a lot better than the team of Belgium.

What was the best thing that happened to you in 2007?
2007 wasn't the best year for me. I broke my knee so didn't race big races for a few months.

What were your favourite places that you visited in 2007?
Australia was awesome and the Asian Championships in Thailand.

How many flights did you take in 2007?
I don't know but a LOT I can tell you that.

Champion of China Games
Are you in pretty good shape for the upcoming races?
I feel pretty good on my bikes the last few months but I am still trying to improve everything.

Is there any word of Hong Kong being selected for the Olympics?
No not really...Hong Kong has a chance to get a wild card...but as Hong Kong is part of China, China will decide who gets it.

What are your plans for 2008?
Try to get my UCI points done and try and go to the olympics.

How does a normal week look like with you? (training)
Just the normal things everybody else does I guess. Gym, sprints, track, gates, plyo's and what not.

What do you do in the weekends?
Most of the time the weekends are for racing...if there is no race I'll just fill it in with some training and easy riding on the track.

Do you ride in a team, which team and who are your team mates?
I don't really ride for a team anymore. I'm pretty much a private rider for meybo with my own sponsors.
Mutiny Mystic Frame
Take a look at the Mystic, Ryan Smith's new signature frame. The frame weighs in at just 4.9 lbs, will be available in 20.75" and 21" with a 13.6 rear end and a 75 degree head tube angle. The frame is 420 baked, which helps to keep the tubing stiff and lets them use thinner wall tubing while retaining strength. The Down tube is a custom tube they have designed from scratch, slighty overlized to help against denting up in the front end and then rounds back out near the BB JUNCTION to keep it stiff. The Chain stays also are oval to help offer greater tire clearance and help resist against denting. It will be available with removable brake lugs and in flat white. Coming April.

Nike 6.0 has released some new mid-tops which have been printed with woodgrain graphics. Only 5000 pairs are made, so grab a pair before quantities are demolished.

Woody Air Mogan Mid
“The Woody Air Mogan Mid is inspired by our obsession with building mini ramps. It’s the energy of the first cut, the last nail pounded, and the stoke of the inaugural drop-in; packaged into a pair of shred-ready kicks. Real wood panels, tightly woven together, create the durable upper. The bent nail and saw blade graphics pay homage to the culture of construction. With the launch of the Woody Air Mogan Mid, Nike 6.0 has joined forces with wood wizard, Nate Wessell, to celebrate the culture of construction. One action-slinging shredder will win a hand-built backyard mini ramp next month. Details and rules can be found on nike6.com from Feb 8th.”
